When are you opening in Hamilton, Ontario??
Hello, I discovered your shop in Montreal a couple of weeks ago while I am on assignment for a month in Montreal. I really like the concept, the designs and the prices. I went back 4 times in 2 weeks and had friends visiting from Ottawa, I was happy to introduce them to your store, and they like it. My 17 year old daughter and 2 of her girlfriends came to visit me yesterday, and I took them to the store on St Catherine near Guy Street. They loved it and they purchased few articles. They decide to buy matching neck support, my daughter asked me to buy her one, she said only 3.99$, I said ok. When I went to pay for all the articles, I saw that the neck support was charged at 7.99$, I asked the girl and she said that this one is 7.99$ but there is another one at 3.99$ and we took the wrong one. I told her to cancel the neck support and she did, my daughter was telling me that her 2 friends already bought it and they need to have 3 matching in the trip back home, and I said ok and asked the girl to put it back on my list. One of her friends said that she is sure that it should be 3.99$ instead of 7.99$, they went back to check and she was right, the sign was 3.99$ on those specific neck support, there was another kind with extra design on the row above and that row had no price. The 3 girls proud of their education, they said that they learned this year at school that if the price is different at cash from the listed price and if the difference is less than 10$ you will get it for free, part of the consumer protection law, and they were happy to apply their education live. And this is when everything went down to hell, from a nice little Japanese concept shop to the nightmare shop from hell. They asked the young teller about the price difference, she went back to check the sign and found it 3.99$, so she come back and told them that probably some clients changed the sign location and it should be 7.99$, they told her that there was no 7.99$ sign close by those neck rest and she should reimburse them because it say 3.99$. She called her supervisor who came and started by talking to me instead of the girls. She tried again (and I can determine here that they were trained to act this way since it is the same answer) to tell me that people change sign in order to use the consumer law and get stuff for free. I told her that these 3 girls did not change the sign and should not be responsible for other people’s actions. Again she is telling me that people change signs….. Again I told her that they did not change the sign and that you have cameras and if you doubt that they changed the sign just check the video. Again she was telling that I am not getting her point of view, because people change signs in order to get….. I explained to her that they are not responsible for that, and she is not getting my point too and after all even if people changed the sign, it is the responsibility of the clerk to make sure that prices are at the right places, and here she came back with a new better excuse, she told me that they are only 4 employee and because they are understaffed they cannot do that. Telling you the truth at this point, 10 minutes of a discussion going nowhere, I started to loose patience. I told her that we are going for supper and if she is going to reimburse them or not right now because she was wasting our time. Do you want to guess what her answer was? That People change price in order to get free stuff etc etc etc….she than stopped and went behind the counter, silly me thinking that it was over, but she went to another cash register, took a client and started serving them and completely ignored us. I went to her and told her that what she is doing is completely disrespectful and she should not ignore us like we do not exist, she finished her client and come back telling me that I should not raise my voice at her and I should talk to her in a normal voice and here she said something that I am pretty sure that she does not know the exact implication of what she was saying, (at least I am trying to think and hope that she does not know), she said :Sir we are in Quebec here and people in Quebec do not raise their voices: I froze for few moments and seriously did not know how to reply to her and how will I take that, as ignorance of what she was saying, as a discrimination against non-Quebecer since she consider herself superior to other or else. I seriously do not want to think about the worst of that phrase so I ignored it. I kept asking her if she is going to refund or not in a calmer normal voice as requested by her, but she was dodging the questions and asking me to lower my voice(that was really lowered at that moment) but she was the one raising her voice now at me and using intimidating gestures toward me, and that was 4 times me asking her dodging until I told her that she was now shouting and using her hands toward me and she should stop that, she said well I do not see what is the problem since we are going to give them the articles for free!!!!!!!!! I asked her so you should refund the money since they already paid for them and she started typing on the cash machine. I stayed a minute watching from far and then I left the store and it took about a minimum of 20 extra minutes for her to refund the 3 articles. You have a nice products, a good concept and a fair price. You market yourself as a Japanese company, but one person can destroy all of that, there was about 50 clients during all that time and what they saw was not pleasant for your image. I know Japan, and let me tell that I will never have been treated that way in Japan, the teller would say sorry so many times about the mistake and I would not even have to ask for refund since all would have be done in seconds and the teller will be ashamed that he mislead one client and he will take full responsibility of that mistake instead of blaming anyone else, that is the Japan that I know and that is the philosophy you should train your North American employees not to disrespect customers to save a miserable 4$ on your bottom line. I do blame that clerk but I do blame your company too for hiring her and giving her the wrong training and attitude to best serve customers.
